Access To The Hidden Partition Pqservice

Many laptops and computers comes in our days without recovery cd, the OS and driver are in hidden partition.

I will show you step by step how to unhide this partition. You will need to use PARTEDIT32.

Be aware that you can lose all your data in this operation, you should backup all your important things before.

Access To The Hidden Partition Pqservice

This, is working with acer aspire laptops and probably with a large variety of computer with hidden partition.

First boot in bios menu by pressing F2 key on boot,

disable the d2d recovery save and restart.

Now we will use PARTEDIT32 this nice freeware software will make a great job, it will allow you to make your partition visible in some clicks of mouse and on the fly under Windows XP.

Unzip and launch Partedit32. The user interface opens, simple but effective, if you have more than one hard disk, choose the one where your hidden partition is in the menu Hard Disk, then look at the column TYPE in your partitions table here is the type of your partition, you can reach a list of the various types of partition by clicking the button SET TYPE.

In this example with a Acer laptop the name of the partition is PQSERVICE and its type is 12, changes it by type 07, save and reboot.

After boot in windows go to my computer you will see a new disk named PQSERVICE you have done it.

In this disk you can find your drivers and windows files. We will explain in another review how to make a real windows cd with these data.

Since that you have finish with these data you just have to repeat the operation and change back the value.

How To Become a Computer Technician

So you want to be a Computer Technician, but you don't know how? Well guess what, I am going to tell you how.

First things first, I am blunt and to the point. I hate typing and thinking about grammar, that is why I went into the Technology field.

I have over 10 years experience in web design, computer networking, hardware, software, java programming, Apple & IBM (pc) format computers, telephone work, home theatres etc, etc, etc, & I make a lot of money doing. So basically I know what I am talking about & I am going to give you some advice that took me 10 long, hard years to learn.

How To Become a Computer Technician

1. MOST IMPORTANT: LEARN how to find the right answers. This can be true for ANY field, ANY person works in. You do not need to know everything, and guess what, if you spent the next 10 years reading, going to school & obtaining certifications, you still wouldn't know all there is to know in the field of Technology. But if you can figure out what resources will help you find a solution for you the fastest, then you are on your way.

2. Go to school and/or get certifications. Of course you need to learn about computers, software, hardware etc to become a computer technician. Find something that fits you, something that makes you excited to go. 4 year schools are not for every one, so make sure they are right for you if you choose to go. In my 4 years in college the only thing I learned to do is program at Level II in Java (a blind monkey could program at that level) and drink a lot of beer. 2 year schools are good because the get straight to the point about the actual jobs you will be doing out in the REAL world. (I was offered a teaching position at one of these 2 year schools at the ripe old age of 25, I laughed in their face & said no because of the salary they were offering). Certifications are important regardless if you get a 2 or 4 year degree. They tell other people that have NO CLUE about technology that you, indeed have a clue about technology

Did you follow that?

A couple of certifications that I highly recommend are the A+, Networking + and any Microsoft Support Certification.

3. Be patient, with yourself and the people you work with. You will always be learning if you become a computer technician. The average lifespan for a particular model of technology (ie computers) is about 2 years. Meaning as soon as you buy it, it is OLD. Things change everyday in Technology and you have to keep up with it!

4. Have a Positive Attitude! Remember, when people call you or you are dispatched out to work on someone's computer, TV etc, they usually are frustrated. Most people will try to fix the issue themselves before calling anyone because they are cheap. By the time you or I get there they are ready to cry. A positive and friendly attitude will go an EXTREMELY LONG WAY. You will be their savior and they will tell all their friends about you. This point might be the most difficult, especially in Technology because not very many people understand how it works and because our lives are so dependent on it.

That is it, 4 simple steps.

These are the 4 things I have tried to do over the last 10 years. Trust me, I am no genius, not by a long shot. But I figured out how to find the right answer for the problem, combined with an education, some certifications and the right attitude, I have people knocking down my door for my services.

Read this article a couple of times until this info really sinks in. This advice works so use it!

New Computer - Old Email, or How to Back up and Transfer Your Email

If you have a brand new computer, or are thinking about buying one in the near future, one of the things that you will need to consider is how to transfer your emails from the old system to the new system.

At least once a week in my job as a help desk analyst, I am helping a customer set up Outlook Express or Outlook (there are other email clients that are used, but these two are the most popular) on their new computer. Once we are finished with the setup and they open it up to the Inbox the question is asked "where are my old emails?" The simple answer; "on your old computer". Then of course the follow up question is; "how do I get them to the new computer?"

Easy or Hard

New Computer - Old Email, or How to Back up and Transfer Your Email

The easiest way to do this is to back them up to an external hard drive or a compact disc before you make the switch to the new computer and then copy them over to the new computer in the exact same directory. The harder way is in the case of a crashed computer or the inability to access the files normally. I cover a bit of that in another article called 'Got Backups?' which you can find at my website.

Outlook Express

With Outlook Express your emails/email folders are stored on your hard drive in a directory that is buried way down deep in the Operating System. Instead of me giving you the full path to get there, it's easiest if you have Outlook Express open, click on Tools then Options.

Copy/Paste

Once you are here, click on the Maintenance tab and then click on the Store Folder button. This will pop another window with the location of your emails. Using your mouse, highlight the path and then right click and copy it.

You will then click on the Start button, then click Run, and then right click in the Open box and Paste the path. Click Ok.

This will open another window with your email files. Unless you have added other folders to your Outlook Express, the default folders will be here with a .dbx extension (Folders, Inbox, Sent Items, Deleted Items, and Drafts).

Backup

If you are going to write these files to a CD, you can burn them at this time by using your favorite burning software (providing that you have a CD burner installed in your computer).

To copy them to an external hard drive, you must now connect that device to your computer, create a folder on that drive (I usually call it Email Backups), copy the files from the old computer then paste the files into the Email Backups folder.

Import

Once you have the files copied to the CD or external drive, then you will go to the new installation of Outlook Express and import the messages. It would be nice if you could just copy them to the new OE and be done, but Microsoft doesn't like you to do it that way.

Open up OE and then click on File, Import, Messages. This will open a new window called Outlook Express Import. Choose Microsoft Outlook Express 6 then click Next. Click in the circle that says 'Import mail from an OE6 store directory'. Click OK. Then click 'Browse' and navigate to and select the directory you have saved them to. Click OK. The next window will give you a list of all of the email folders you have previously saved. Keep 'All folders' selected and click Next.

This will begin the process of importing all of your 'old' emails into your 'new' Outlook Express. Once it has finished you will have all of your old emails back! Cool, huh?

Outlook

The procedure to save and then import your emails in Outlook is similar, but different.

To start with, Outlook uses a file extension called pst, or Personal Folder File. Don't ask me why it's called that. Call Bill Gates and ask him.

Export

You will start on the old computer and with Outlook open, click on File, then 'Import and Export'. This opens the Import and Export Wizard. Choose 'Export to a file' then click Next. Choose 'Personal Folder File' here and then click Next. In the Export Personal Folders dialogue box you have your choice of what you want to do. The easiest is to keep the default choice of just the inbox, but if you want your sent items and all the other folders, choose the top item (Personal Folders) and then choose the 'Include subfolders' option and then click Next.

The next window will have a default location listed
(usually C:Documents and Settings'your computer name'Local SettingsApplication DataMicrosoftOutlookbackup.pst). I would suggest following the same procedure as for OE (see above). Then click 'Finish' and let it do it's thing.
Once you have your pst files backed up, move to the new computer and the import process will again be similar to OE.

Connect your external hard drive to your computer or insert the CD into the drive.

Import

Open Outlook, click on File, then Import and Export. In the Import and Export Wizard, this time choose 'Import from another program or file' then click Next. In the 'Import a File' window, scroll down and select Personal Folder File (.pst) and then click Next.

In the 'Import Personal Folders' window, click the Browse button and navigate out to the location of your backed up pst file, choose it and then click Next. Click 'Finish' and it will import all of your messages.

As we are moving into the information age there is a need to secure data transmission and also to store and retrieve the data and the information. Information Retrieval Systems are increasing with the advent of the technology.

Let us fist talk about the basic differences between the data and the information.

DATA:

What is the Difference Between Data Retrieval and Information Retrieval?

It is the raw fact. For its retrieval it needs to be fully mentioned. If the file name or the document name is not known or is case sensitive, there are chances for the system to fail and do not retrieve any document. Examples of data are a piece of paper, a book, an algorithm. In the above examples their location is not known and hence the meaning cannot be given to this data

INFORMATION

Information is processed data. For its retrieval a partial information is enough for its evaluation. Hence, the system never fails. Examples of information are a piece of paper on a table, a book in the shelf, a bubble-sort algorithm. In the above examples their location are known and hence they have a specified meaning.

Data retrieving systems can be found in the operating system search. Windows search is a best example for the data retrieval system. you would have to specify the exact name of the file that you desire. Where are information retrieval systems are like web search engines. The best known is Google. It processes the natural language and produces the output in encompassing the entire set of documents matching the query.

It is very much important in these days to retrieve the data at a faster rate. Earlier there used to linear search mechanisms where in the entire set of documents in the database are read and then sorted according to the query and displayed. This had varied complexities and took greater amount of time compared to the advanced techniques available these days.

In an information retrieval system, the documents are scanned for the query. To decrease the computation time of the system, the documents are scanned only for the repeated key words which are considered relevant to the document. The output displayed sends a feedback as an input for the next query. In this way with every query there is an increase in the performance of the system.

There should be more and more information retrieving systems to reduce the time of searching a document and this is done with the help of indexing.
